Father Joseph Ogah

Father Joseph was born on November 5th, 1979 in Ako-Orokam, Benue state, Nigeria, which is located in West Africa. He attended primary school at St Joseph Primary School in Orokam from 1986 to 1991 and then attended secondary school (college) from September 1991 to September 1997.

After two years of discernment, Father Joseph applied to the Diocese of Otukpo to be admitted and trained for the priesthood. He completed a one-year spiritual year program at St Lwanga in Aliade, Nigeria, from October 1999 to June 2000. Afterward, he studied philosophy at St Thomas Aquinas Major Seminary (an affiliate of Urban University Rome), graduating with a bachelor of philosophy in 2004.

In October 2004, Father Joseph started his theological training at the same school and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in theology in June 2008. He was ordained a deacon in February 2008 while completing his bachelor’s degree, followed by his ordination into the priesthood on November 8, 2008.

Father Joseph ministered in the Diocese of Otukpo for six years before being sent to the Diocese of Sault Ste Marie in Ontario, Canada. He began his pastoral work in Canada as the pastor of the churches in Warren, St Charles, Markstay and Wahnapitae from July 2015 to March 2016 before being transferred to the Catholic Parishes of Onaping Falls and Cartier on March 31st, 2016.
