Cemeteries In Our Parish

Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May their souls and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.

Our Parish community is served by two cemeteries

Maple Crest Cemetery, located near Dowling in the City of Greater Sudbury and is administered by the City.

In addition, our parish has pastoral responsibility for funerals and internments for the communities of Benny and Biscotasing.

Both Benny and Biscotasing were home to their own churches in the past. Both communities have cemeteries that are still open to burials. You can find more information on these communities’ churches and their cemeteries in the following links;

On page 70, of the book “The History of a Diocese in Northern Ontario”, the date 1952 is a typographical error. The date should be 1925.
Our parish logo – ages of our churches;
1. a. For St. Stephen the Martyr, the age should be 44, not 42.
2. For St. Francis Xavier, the age of 82 represents the age of the parish since the Diocese of Sault Ste. Marie assumed the operation of the church. The first parish church was built in 1893, bringing the true age of the local parish to 114 years (from 2007).

Langues vernaculaires parlées lors de nos messes

Nos églises paroissiales étaient toutes, à une époque, des paroisses indépendantes répondant aux besoins spécifiques en anglais et en français de nos communautés. Aujourd’hui, les trois églises ne forment plus qu’une seule paroisse, et nous sommes une paroisse bilingue au service des catholiques anglophones et francophones de notre communauté.

Our parish churches were all, at one time, independent parishes serving the specific English and French language requirements of our communities. Today, all three churches are now one parish, and we are a bilingual parish serving our community’s English and French-speaking Catholics.
